2011-2012 Winter Track

Usually on Thursdays at 7PM

No Track January 12th - the Field House is closed

winter location:

Lexington High School Field House

For the winter we move track workouts indoors at the Lexington High School Field House.

There is a $5 charge at the door (the money goes to Lexington Rec - not GLRR) or you can purchase a season pass for $75 (if you are a Lexington resident - it's cheaper).

Most weeks we'll workout on Thursdays at 7PM - but this is subject to availability of the field house.  So some weeks it might be on Wednesday (we will try to alert you when there is a change).

Here is our tentative schedule: click here

Here is the Lexington program cancelation line: (781) 862-0500 ext. 706.

We should also mention that winter track is more ah.... well you're more on your own.  Jim creates workouts - but unless we're injured - Jim and I do the workout - we don't work the splits - you do that on your own.

After the workout we head to Mario's for pizza and/or pasta.  Mario's is a BYOB restaurant - so bring your favorite brew - we'll bring ours and we'll share.

New to track?  Afraid of track?  Read this...

The number one question asked at track is "How fast should I run?"  And the number one answer is it depends...  well that's not entirely fair - the answer is based on how fast you run and what your goals are - then we can recommend a pace of the work out.  Checkout the pacing page for how to find your workout pace (not just for track - but all workouts) plus lots more on pacing.

Jim (and Glenn) are often asked about running form and technique.  And we are often harping on running with better form - so that you can run easier, faster and longer.

Jim found the following website from the New York Road Runners.  The site is more geared to teach kids - but hey - aren't we all kids at heart?  Do yourself a favor and take a look - I think you'll learn something that improves your running.
