GLRR Hall of Fame Member Jack Pierce

Jack was inducted into the GLRR Hall of Fame in 2003

As a major part of GLRR:

Served... two years as GLRR President.

Served on the GLRR Boards of Directors for 8 Years.

Served as the GLRR Mill Cities Representative for many years.

Served as Captain of the GLRR Seniors racing team for 8 years.

During that period the Seniors -Captured several Mill Cities Seniors titles, as well as a couple of Lake Winny Seniors titles. The Seniors also finished first in the USATF-NE Seniors divisions a few times while he was the -GLRRCaptain.

Jack was a major contributor to the GLRR Newsletter .never missing a deadline for submitting .an. article in each issue.

Recipient of a 1998 GLRR Life Time Achievement Award.

Served as the Lead man for the GLRR2 Mile Series for Two summers.

Served as the Coordinator for the GLRR Weekly track workout Program for 3 years.

Served as a GLRR voting member for many years at the annual USAIFNE Grand Prix Race selection meetings,.. Ensuring. the schedule was as fair and favorable to GLRR as possible.

Drives all of current Arizona Road Racers teammates crazy by wearing my GLRR wardrobe before
and-after all local races in Arizona.

 

Jack's has been a major contributor to the Sport of Road Racing in General:

Served as the Mill Cities Relay Treasurer and after race Food Coordinator for 12 years.

Served for two years as president of the Merrimack Valley Strider’s and was a Board member there for many years.

Currently VP of Special events for the Arizona. Road Racers – retired after 4 years of service

Over Seen the growth of the ARR weekly track program from one program .attracting less than 10 runners weekly to one that now draws 70 runners of all abilities each week at one location.

Initiated the establishment of a second program that has grown to 25 runners weekly with .additional growth in sight.

Introduced the "Open Mile" series to the ARR   This is now a Series of 5 On the. Track Miles, run 6 weeks apart with digital c1ocks, lap flags and a final lap bell rung for each individual’s final lap. The first and last Mile in the Series inc1udes a. tailgating.-ARR Club sponsored pizza and Liquid refreshment social ..

 

As a runner Jack is a fixture at the Boston Marathon and is a member of the QCC (Quarter Century Club).  He has completed the last 27 consecutive Boston marathons all in under 3:50, including two in under 3:00 after turning 50 years old.
