2008 Hall of Fame and
Awards Dinner April 18th, 2008
We had the largest turn out in years. We
had more than 86 attendees. It was great to see many of the past club
members and especially great to see the scholarship athletes and their
families. You might have seen the story in the Lowell Sun (click
here).

But if you missed it – Here are the awards:

It was a great evening- with great stories
from coach George Davis (for Peg), Dave Camire (for Dan and Gerard), Tom
Carroll (for Dan) and Jack Pierce (for Gerard).
We started with dinner.
While we were eating we presented our 2007 GLRR Year in Review Slide Show.

We started with the Scholarships -
Chris
Brown of Chelmsford High School
- Chris was captain of the Fall
Cross Country team, the Winter indoor Track Team and the
Spring Outdoor Track Team.
- He was MVP for all three teams
- He was selected as a Lowell Sun
All-star, and selected for the Globe and the Herald
All-Scholastic teams.
- Chris was the Class A Mass indoor
mile champion
- He also excelled academically as
an Honor Roll student in the top 12% of his class
- He will be running next year at
Brandeis University, where he will be majoring in
Physics.

Hausherr of North Middlesex High School
- Four year member of the varsity XC,
Indoor Track and Outdoor track teams
- 10 time Midland Wachusett league
champion
- 5 time Central Mass District Champion
- 7 time Lowell Sun All Star
- 2 time Runner of the Year for cross
country
- multiple time team captain and MVP for
track and cross country
- Division 2 2mile Indoor Champion this
past winter
- 7th at the all state cross
country championship meet
- David has
1:59 800, 4:28 mile, 9:27 2 mile and a 15:56 5K
- David will be running next year at La
Salle University

Veiga of Lowell High School
- Jeff has been a multiple sport
participant in soccer, tennis, cross country and track
- Varsity indoor track for 3 years
- MVC all conference in XC and indoor
track
- Team MVP in XC
- Lowell Sun All-star XC and indoor
track
- Globe XC All star
- 5th in the 2-mile at Div 1
Championship
- 10th in the 2-mile at the
All-State Championship
- 16th at Div 1 XC
Championship
- Active in more than just sports, Jeff
is a member of the International Language Club, the Science
Club, DECA and he’s the PR officer for the Portuguese
Speakers Club.
- Like David, if your run Baystate, Jeff
has probably handed you a cup of water or Gatorade at mile
2.
- As a recipient of the John and Abigail
Adams scholarship, Jeff will be running at ULowell next
year.

Kate
Warwick of Acton/Boxboro High School
- Four years of XC, indoor and outdoor
track
- Three time Duel meet all star team
- Four time Lowell Sun All-Star for XC,
indoor and outdoor track
- Holds the Acton/Boxboro school record
in the 2 mile at 11:21
- Kate is a consistent honor roll
student
- She will be running for either
Brandies or Bates next fall.

Of course the big stars of the night were
our hall of fame inductees.
Our Master of Ceremonies was our good
friend and Hall of Famer - Jack Pierce

Leading off was Peg Donovan.
She was introduced by her GLRR coach George Davis.

Next up was Dan Wasileuskas
Dan was introdcued and roasted by Hall of Famers Dave Camire and Tom
Carroll.

In the cleanup slot was Gerard Ottaviano
Gerard was introduced by ??, Dave Camire and Jack Pierce.

As is tradition (now) at these meetings - we gathered the Hall of Famers
